Hailu Yang has studied the piezoelectric energy harvesting technology for asphalt pavement. Combined with piezoelectric theory and pavement mechanics, designed and developed the piezoelectric energy harvester suitable for the pavement traffic load and analyzed the factors that affect the efficiency of piezoelectric power generation. Designed a self-powered synchronous charge extraction circuit to improve the efficiency of piezoelectric energy collection. Combined with the energy storage circuit and energy storage unit, formed a complete set of pavement piezoelectric energy collection system, which can convert part of the environmental dispersed unwanted vibration energy into useful electric energy.
Yang Hailu developed a high-sensitivity, high-stability, easily installable, and low-cost traffic vehicles Weigh-in-Motion sensor. and a sensor data correction algorithm based on genetic algorithm-optimized backpropagation neural network (GA-BP) was developed, which significantly improved the traffic load weighing accuracy (average error ≤6%). This system can simultaneously identify multi-dimensional refined traffic information including axle load position, axle load magnitude, vehicle speed and pavement temperature. Engineering tests have verified its compliance with Type II traffic weighing system technical requirements, enabling effective identification of overloaded and over-limit suspicious vehicles.
